McNeill Runs Olympic Qualifier in WA

A happy Dave McNeill sporting a new PB and Olympic qualifying time

Dave McNeill has continued his great run of form with another PB, this time an Olympic qualifying time of 13:12.82 in the 5,000m. In an event that was put together in Perth by Matt Ramsden and MTC, early rabbiting duties were undertaken by Matt Smith, with Stewart McSweyn then taking over. Dave sat behind Ramsden and McSweyn until about the 3800m mark, at which point he moved up into second and began the push for home. A blazing last kilometre saw Dave stop the clock in 13:12.82, improving on his 9-year old PB by 6 seconds and putting himself into contention for a third Olympic team. Congratulations to Dave, who will soon head to Europe for some international competitive racing.
