Old Xaverians were well represented at the Zatopek:10 meet on January 26 at Box Hill. Dave McNeill led the charge in the men’s 10k, showing his trademark kick to finish 3rd in 28:16, close on the heels of Jack Rayner and Brett Robinson. In the 1500m, our SA transplant Matt Clarke improved his PB to 3:42.64 for 5th place, while his sister Monica ran an impressive 6th in the 400m hurdles in 62.73.

Earlier in the day, a committed group of OXAC runners braved the wet weather to attempt a 5km time trial on the old Olympic Park track, only to be confronted with a flood situation. Undeterred, they moved the event onto the roads, thus earning their post-run pancakes on the banks of the Yarra.

Too wet for the track but not too wet for pancakes
