OXAC shines, silver for Hoskins at 5k Championships

Charlotte Hoskins heads for the line in the U20 5k

Four athletes donned the red and black to line up at last Thursday’s Victorian 5000m Championships at Box Hill Athletics Track. The four athletes were spread out across the night, representing OXAC in both the men’s and women’s Open and U20 competitions.

T20 para-athlete, Cameron Marshall started off the night by mixing it with the big boys in the Men’s Open D race, placing 17th with a time of 18:54.15h. Xavier schoolboy, Josh Augustinus also stepped it up a notch, running in the U20 age group–as a 15 year-old–and placing an impressive 9th in 16:01.41h. Well done also to Emme Richardson who finished 13th with a time of 20:10.8h in the Women’s Open B race.

Ultimately, the superlative run of the night was from Charlotte Hoskins, continuing her run of form to pick up Silver in the Women’s U20 race. A front-runner from the beginning, she blitzed away as soon as the starter’s gun had fired. After twelve and a half quality laps, Charlotte came home strongly, the clock ticking over at 18:41.0h as she crossed the finish line.
