Dave McNeill continued his run of form for 2021 with a huge PB in the 3000m at the Oslo Diamond League race on July 1. Entering the race with a freshly minted PB of 7:46, Dave hopped on the train that was popping off 60-second laps (7:30 pace) and never lost contact. While the TV cameras focussed on eventual winner Yomif Kejelcha (running a world-leading 7:26.25) Dave was passing the runners who had been too ambitious early, and with his trademark kick he finished 8th in 7:39.43, lowering his PB by a further 7 seconds. In a great night for Australian athletics, Stewart McSweyn won the Dream Mile in an Australian record 3:48.37, joining such greats as Coe, Ovett, Cram and Walker in the list of winners at Bislett stadium.
