Double Wins at Alan Hooley Relay

Race Report by Christine Williams

The Alan Hooley Relay is one of APSOC’s most cherished traditions, honouring Alan Hooley, longserving Chief Official and co-founder of this unique event.

Each runner completes two 3km legs, making it a tactical, rhythm-breaking challenge that rewards depth, pacing and smart team strategy.

Old Xavs arrived in force, fielding nine teams, the largest contingent of the day — and the red and black stripes were everywhere.

On the men’s side, we had four of the top six fastest times and our team of Conor Murtagh, Ben Ferretto, Simon Holt and Tim Tyers took the team win. Another highlight was Peter Curtis returning to racing after several years away and clocking a superb 11:54 for his first leg as top M60 runner on the day.

Peter Curtis made a strong return to racing

For the women, Annabelle Colman, Georgia Guiney and Di Guiney took first place with Annabelle the fastest woman overall and Di the fastest W50.
