Penny Townshend and Beata Janetzki represented Victoria in the National Half Marathon Championships, held August 14 on the Sunshine Coast. Finishing 20th and 21st respectively, both ladies recorded personal bests (1:22:36 for Penny equalling her Gold Coast time and 1:22:56 for Beata). While Beata had hoped for more after her recent 2:53 marathon PB, it was a strong effort and quick turnaround from marathon recovery. Victoria’s team was headed up by first-placed Lisa Weightman and took the national team honours with a mere 10 points. Congratulations to all.
