The Cup Day Canter – a traditional Spring racing event for OXAC – was held under sunny and cool conditions on a fast track around the Tan on November 5, a few hours before the (other) race that stops the nation. Coach Deeks handicapped the field with various starting advantages or disadvantages, based on recent racing results. For the third year in a row, there was a bit of an upset as young runners fooled the handicapper, with Henry Hinckfuss coming in almost 3 minutes ahead of his predicted time. Fastest female honours went to Sophie Ryan (possibly a PB of 13:39) while Jase Paisley also PB’ed with a time of 11:43 to record the fastest time of the day.
