Perfect conditions prevailed at Albert Park for the AthsVic 10k/3k road races, and many OXAC athletes took advantage of them.

In the open races, Justin Bove led the way with 34:51, while Annabelle Colman improved her PB to 35:03 to take 6th place in the women’s field, another cracking performance from her. Just behind Justin was Ant Meek making a rare appearance as an invitational runner as he keeps his focus on the marathon. Tim Tyers (35:45), Alan Colman (35:51), Bruce Davie (38:23) and Michael Tsorlinis (40:20) completed our Div 3 team, while the trio of Alan, Bruce and Michael took the silver medal in the M50+ team competition. Alan was also 2nd in the 55+ division while Bruce took 3rd in 60+.

For the women, Di Guiney (43:09), Julie Pearsons (44:15) and Aya Fukunaga (46:05) rounded out the Div 2 team to finish in 5th place. Di was 3rd in F50+, bouncing back from her recent marathon.

Our junior and IST athletes ran 3km and dominated the para-athlete divisions. Cam Marshall took gold and Carlo Manolitsas silver in the open men’s para-athlete, Laurie Tod collected the gold in men’s U20 para-athlete, Christos Tsorlinis finished 3rd in U17 men’s para-athlete, and Georgia Powning took gold and Amelie Lague the bronze in open women’s para-athlete.
Several of the Old Xavs’ crew moved to the Boathouse cafe after racing to enjoy a coffee by the lake with a jazz ensemble on hand to help with the very chilled and relaxed vibe.
