Another soggy day greeted the athletes at the Tan for Round 10 of the Athsvic XCR season, the Tan Relay. Fresh off the plane from her Paris triumph, Annabelle Colman led off the women’s Div 1 team in a zippy 13:29, to be followed by Susan Hinckfuss (16:38), Georgia Powning (15:02), Christy Bonstelle (16:46) and Di Guiney (16:01) to finish 8th on the day and secure their position to remain in Premier Division for another year.
In Division 3, the men had their strongest showing of the season with a 2nd place finish for the team of Ben Haseler (11:56), John Kuol (11:45), Aidan Jackson (12:48), Jeremy Higlett (13:12) and Laurence Tod (12:37). For the year that put the team in 9th place, ensuring another year in Div 3.
The F60 team of Christine Williams (19:21), Josita Hicks (20:09) and Margaret Fitzgerald (17:56) closed out their dominant season with another win and took first in their division for the season.
The M50 team was led out by Bruce Davie (14:13) followed by Alan Colman (14:00, second fastest Colman on the day) and Pablo Campillos (14:41) to finish 4th, narrowly off the podium. That left the 50+ team 5th for the season.
The F40 team (Silvia Warren: 18:17, Elisse Gately: 19:20, Fleur Shaw-Jones: 19:33) finished 6th. For the year, the F40 women placed 5th. While there was no F50 team on the day, as three 50+ ladies pitched in to assist the Div 1 team, OXAC still managed a 5th place finish for the season in F50. A bit of recruiting of open runners could see our 50+ women replicate the success of the 60+ team.
In M60 action, the team of Bob Meek (17:25), Richard Dickmann (18:01) and Christopher Worsnop (20:54) finished in 7th, consolidating another 5th place finish for the season.
We ended up with a number of podium finishes for OXAC athletes in their respective age categories, with Lauren Mosbey 3rd in F40, Margaret Fitzgerald 2nd and Christine Williams 3rd in F60, Darren Templeton 3rd in M55 and Bruce Davie 2nd in M60.
