OXAC Season Off to Flying Start

At the end of three weekends of AVSL competition, we find ourselves in 4th place in Division 4 of the AVSL.

We had 21 athletes competing in round 3, spread across Friday evening at Werribee and Saturday at Aberfeldie in what was the biggest turn out of Old Xavs at an AVSL Round of the last 2 years. A huge thank you to Richard Dickmann filling the Club Helper duty.

Round 3 Scoring

Di Guiney completed a hat trick of scoring over 1,000 points individually in a round. Mille Hinckfuss again was our second highest scoring athlete for OXAC with Annabelle Colman rounding out our top three scoring athletes.

It was raining PBs at Aberfeldie for Old Xavs on the track yesterday. These included:

  • Clara Campillos – 100m PB: 14.47 & 400m PB: 69.33
  • Annabelle Colman – 1500m PB: 4:44.6
  • Di Guiney – 400m PB: 67.99
  • Millie Hinckfuss – 80m Hurdles PB: 17.52
  • Zac Taylor – 1500m PB: 5:16.7
  • Lochlan Warren – 1500m PB: 4:49.1

Other notable individual performances by Old Xaverian athletes were Finn Harvey running 14.51 in 100m as he comes back from injury; Carlo Manolitsas running 66.77 in 400m and 5:08.8 in 1500m as he tested his hamstring as he also comes back from injury; Paul Ryan running a very respectable 13.79 in 100m and 64.73 in 400m (Boys U16) in his first run with Old Xavs; Tom Colman 14.45 in 100m (Boys U14) using the event as some racing experience in his lead up to School Regional competition; Max Sukdara 5:31.7 in 1500m (Boys U14) in his first run on the track this season; Alan Colman 5:01.9 in 1500m taking it easy only one week off his half marathon PB of 78:50 at Melbourne last weekend.

We have a little break of two weeks in AVSL competition now with Round 4 on 11th November. For Round 4 the venues will be Mt Evelyn (Lilydale) and Keilor. Keilor will be the focal Team venue for Round 4.

Before Round 4 AVSL competition on 11th November, there will be a Vic Milers meet at Lakeside Stadium on Thursday 9th November.

Also aside from AVSL competition OXAC will be entering relay teams in the Victorian Track Relay Championships to be held at Doncaster on Saturday 25th November.

Well done everyone and I’m looking forward to seeing you all at Round 4.

Go Xavs!!!!
