OXAC wraps up three APSOC premierships at Cooke-McLelland

OXAC hosted the final race of the APSOC season, the Cooke McClelland 8k, and the whole club answered the call! Our Open Team claimed the win on the day to snatch the 2019 premiership from ladder leaders Old Scotch and our top men finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd led by Olympian Dave McNeill back to his best and chased home by up and coming international Matt Clarke and club strong man Jason Paisley! Men’s captain Aidan Jackson had one of the runs of the day and was rewarded with 2nd place on handicap (Jason Paisley was 4th). Silky smooth Mark Guirgus and 2019 new comer Peter Chappell rounded out our top team!

Our women’s teams finished 1st and 2nd on the day to seal their 10th premiership in 11 years! Karen Barlow led home the team in 2nd followed by OXAC women’s co-captain Hannah Cossins with Bianca Graham and Penny Townshend making up the winning team! With our great depth on display on the day and throughout the season our 3rd open team in Div 2 won on the day and also claimed the Div 2 premiership to earn promotion in 2020 giving us 3 teams in Div 1 next season! There were also many club members of all ages and abilities and wonderful IST runners out in action including their coach Liz Gosper. The club was also well supported with marshals and helpers to support our hosting of the race and the afternoon tea that followed! Well done to everyone who has supported OXAC in 2019 either on or off the track, or both! Bring on 2020! Onward and upwards!
